Bennett Architectural were called to Foxhill Primary School in Sheffield by Sir Robert McAlpine to assist with the glazing components located on the school’s roof.
The school was having insulation inserted into their rooftop, which required the roof to be stripped back and the lightwells to be extended to account for the added depth.
Bennett Architectural’s role in the roof’s maintenance was to remove the aluminium flashing and lift the glass from the lightwells so that the roof could be stripped back and replaced once the insulation was in place.
The Facilities Management team at Bennett Architectural made light work of the maintenance involved with the roof’s glazing which meant there was minimal disturbance to the school’s ability to operate whilst the work was carried out.
In total, we will assist with eleven lightwells and replace ten aluminium hop boxes. After seeing our expertise in the previous maintenance work we had carried out on their building, Foxhill then asked us to return and carry out thermal calculations on the existing glass on the property.
